What should I do first as a new user?

Here are some things that you will want to check out as a new ShotRunner user:

Administrative links

The first thing you want to do is familiarize yourself with the items in the upper-right corner of the page. I'm not sure why, but for some reason all the things up there are virtually invisible until pointed out:

The 'My Profile' link (currently says 'My info') lets you change your timezone, which sets how all date/time fields in the system display. There are also fields to enter your contact information so your collaborators can reach you. There are also a number of preferences that you can set.

The 'Support' link opens a new window to our support site where you can browse articles, ask questions and log problems.

There is also a quick-switch menu with all of the projects your are associated with.

Finally, when you need to find something fast, try the text search box.

Your Dashboard

When you first log in, you see the Dashboard. The dashboard is your personal summary of the system:

The sections are:

  • Work List: If you have any outstanding requests, or work submissions that you need to attend to, they will be shown here. This is mostly seen by supervisors and team leads.
  • Tasks: Your outstanding tasks. Click on a purple column label to sort.
  • My Projects: The projects that you are a member of. Click on the project name to open up that project.
  • Latest Notifications: Think you may have missed an email notification? Never fear, your last ten email notifications are listed here.

You can always get back to the dashboard by clicking the 'Back to Dashboard' link in the upper left corner if you have clicked into a project, or just the 'Dashboard' tab if you haven't.
