Some folks have asked that the system be able to track files that are stored on an FTP site.

How do you want this to work from the user perspective?

When uploading a file (presumably a proxy image or thumbnail) do you want a field to hold the FTP location?

Do you want to be able to click to download that file from the FTP site?

How do you want to deal with permissions on the FTP site?

    Yeah! it's really needed thing.

A good way to do it - ftp link fields on two pages:

    • upload - on Submit Work
    • download - on Element

You can try this today, just to see how it would work out:

In any message/description field, use a textile link:

        "Link to My File":ftp://www.somewhere.com/path/filename.ext

The big problem I see is that there is no security -- and I'm not sure how to address the security issue yet.
