In the t3x domain, I have a sequence called PVZ with only one task. The task has a progress of 100% and is labeled Complete, and the sequence also has a status of Complete. However, the sequence shows as 0% done in the Overview page.

How do I show these sequence as done?

    Juan Carlos,

Currently, the sequence complete % is computed using the number of shots that are complete vs. the total number of shots.

Do you think we should compute this differently? I thought about including tasks in the computation, perhaps weighted in some way, but then I thought it would just confuse people.

One small thing to note, if you mark a shot as complete, all the tasks for that shot are also marked complete.

I see. I think the number of tasks completed should also be used. I noticed that we now have a lot of tasks that are 100% complete and marked as such, but the overall project % completion hasn't moved almost at all.

If a shot is made up of tasks, I would like to calculate % of shot done as an average of the tasks completed. The same would apply to Sequences. If we you did it like that, it would only be necessary to enter task progress and project completion would be cascaded up automatically.

The way our project is set up, each sequence has tasks for modeling, live action and compositing. Since some of these tasks will be done close to project completion, it would seem from the Project Overview that we are not making progress when in fact we are.

Hope this is clear and useful.

    Juan Carlos,

This makes sense. How much should marking a shot as complete be counted towards the sequence completion?

Some projects don't have any tasks, and a lot of projects don't have a complete list of tasks. So, the tasks that are listed might represent only 50% of the work.

Should tasks on sequences count more than tasks on shots?

Maybe I will make a spreadsheet model for us to play with to see what feels right.

Good point. I know that for our project we need to complete all tasks before the scene is complete, but I can see how some people might go a different route.

A spreadsheet would help. I guess there would have to be some weighting, or maybe a global preference somewhere that wold toggle between automatically change shot progress based on task completion, or keeping things manual as they are now.

Juan, I've posted a spreadsheet here:
    http://support.shotrunner.com/discussions/suggestions/11-calculatin...

Please have a look at this thread and try the spreadsheet, varying the task % completes and the shot/element done yes/no values.

I'm closing this issue -- we'll continue in the other thread.

    Cheers,
    Cameron
