Deleting Users

After deleting users their accounts stored in database with status 'deleted' and not actually deleted.

It makes two problems:

  1. I can't use the e-mail of deleted user for new one (I understand that I could resolve this problem by rename existing user with the same e-mail, but it is not so clever way)
  2. I can't downgrade my account. Because count of users in database is still more than limit of target account

We don't delete users as they might still be referenced on all of your other objects like shots, tasks, etc.

What do you think the solution should be? Let me see if we can allow duplicate emails.

If we are including deleted users in the count of users for qualifying plans, that is a bug. I have someone looking at that now.

In the meantime, I have slightly changed the emails for all deleted users so you should be able to add new users.

Reffering problem could have two (at least) "semi-automatic" solutions: - change all reference from deleted user to another user (for example, all shots and tasks assigned to user A reassigned to user B. and user A could be deleted) - set assignement of related items to "not assignee" status (for more improved solution, you could change item status to "At Risk")

I'm not sure that users count is the reason. I have only 13 active users and 2 active projects but can't change my plan to "Indie"

We found the problem with the deleted users and inactive projects being included in the plan counts and are fixing.

The problem with the user references goes deeper than that -- the user is in all the history, notes, etc.

What I'm looking into is allowing duplicate email addresses -- I'm not sure why that is a valid restriction. also, I'm not sure that the "deleted" status is really even necessary -- seems like "suspended" is just as good and won't cause confusion.

    Arkady,

We are pushing a bug-fix release out this Sunday. Don't worry, I'll take care of your account.

Are you able to create the users you want to create now?

Just keep me updated, let me know what you need and I'll fix it in the database right away.

    Cheers, Cameron

    Arkady,

Apparently having two users with the same email is going to cause us some issues. The developers want me to ask you what the use case is for reusing an email address.

The problem of not being able to downgrade your account has been fixed and will be pushed out this Sunday.

    Thanks, Cameron

Revision: The developers enabled reusing an email address as long as the previous user has been deleted.

Akady, Is that common to have an shared email account for a whole studio as opposed to separate emails for each user?

The reason I ask is having multiple users on the same email address would totally break the notification model that ShotRunner uses.

Or, is it really just a case of recycling an email address that was used by a deleted user?

freelancer invited to project thru outsource studio use the studio's address. After finishing his work, supervisor has deleted user account

after week new freelancer invited and try to use the same studio's address.

I understand that it's not clever way. But we have some reasons to do that. At first - for breaking access to data from faired artists

    Arkady,

The user and project counts are working correctly now and your account has been switched.

Also, you should be able to recycle email addresses from deleted users.

    Cheers, Cameron
