ShotRunner v0.94 Update, 06-Oct-2009
Hey everyone,
This is a release notice for v0.93 and v0.94, which was pushed to
production today.
**Announcements**
A great ShotRunner article by none other than Mark Christiansen
was posted on the ProVideoCoalition website. Mark is a great writer,
known for his After Effects books. Mark used ShotRunner on two
indie film projects, and has written what I think is a stellar
overview of ShotRunner -- better than I could have written
myself! This will be useful to both people new to ShotRunner, as
well as those who may not be familiar with all of its features.
Check it out:
Online Post Production Management with ShotRunner by Mark Christiansen

We are Running a Feature Film! -- Boy, I wish I could talk about
it, this is really exciting! The studio is in charge of about
120 shots across about 3 dozen artists, and is giving ShotRunner
a great workout!
New File Manager Coming Soon! In about a month we will be rolling
out the new file management capabilities. This will be a big
change and so there will be tutorials and announcements well in
advance of the switchover. Watch for the emails.
**New Features**
OK, on to the new features -- here's what been released along
with zillions of bug fixes since August 23rd:
Email Replies -- You can now respond directly to email
notifications from your email client. The old links are still
there in the email message to go directly to the ShotRunner page,
but you can also now just hit Reply, type your response and
Send -- and the response will be logged into ShotRunner, just as
if you had typed it into the browser page. This will be great
for iPhone junkies.
Forum topics sort in newest-first order -- On any page that has a
forum, the topics are now sorted so that the topics with the
latest activity are on top. Within a topic, the original message
and the replies are still ordered down the page. Let me know
what you think of this -- we will likely make this an individual
preference in the future.
Colored Shot Thumbnail Borders -- This was a user request to make
it easier to spot shot status. We are using the same color as
the shot status color for the shot thumbnail borders in the shot
index view (both the Tiles, and Thumbnails layouts.) Let me know
what you think, probably another good user preference item.
Task Time Estimates -- You can now enter a time estimate (in
hours) on tasks, and view the estimates in the task index and
task detail pages.
Project Forums -- You can now create forum topics on the Project
Overview page. This replaces the old News function.
Dashboard Tab -- I removed the Dashboard tab when you are in a
project context as it caused confusion. Now, to get to your
Dashboard, just hit the 'Back to Dashboard' link in the header.
This is more consistent: when you are looking at the Dashboard,
you will have the dashboard tab set, and when you are in a
Project, you will have the project tab set.
As always, if you have a question or there is anything I can do
to help you get organized and collaborate, just ask!.
Thanks,
Cameron
